Testing, Counseling & Referral
After two decades of HIV research, we now know that early diagnosis and early care substantially contribute to both the length and quality of life for those living with HIV/AIDS.
Testing for HIV infection is reliable and is the only way to determine one’s HIV status. HIV testing and referral is also necessary for early identification of those who are HIV-infected, and for linkage with medical care and supportive services.
To help address this need, AIDS Resource Center Ohio has been providing HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral (CTR) services since 2004. In several counties, we were the first providers of the newly-approved rapid HIV tests endorsed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).

The test is administered confidentially and anonymously by request and requires only a swab of cheek cells from inside your mouth. Twenty minutes later and under normal circumstances, you will be presented with preliminary positive results about your current HIV status.
And did we mention that the test is free?
The Centers for Disease Control recommends regular testing for individuals in populations where HIV is spreading most rapidly and/or for populations disproportionately affected by HIV including:
